The Pains of Retirement

My pains, not theirs.

Mojito
Orange Crush

Every couple of days I get pictures from my parents showing me what drinks they're having that evening on the porch. It is brutal. Especially since their 5 o'clock happy hour is when I'm just finishing lunch at work. Here's the latest email and recipe they just sent. Gloaters.
Hi Guys,

Yesterday, we went to happy hour (5 – 7 pm) at the Marlin Moon Grill – one of the best restaurants in OC. We had two nice drinks made by Bobbie, who we know from across the street. Mine was a planter’s punch. Mom’s was a Palm Beach Lemon Drop. She really liked it, so Bobbi gave us the recipe.

It’s been really hot here at the beach, which is quite unusual. It’s even hot at home too. But we have an ocean here and it is really nice!!!

Love,
M&D

I am supposed to tell you that there is a correction to the Palm Beach Lemon Drop:

Hi Sweetie!

Bobbie, the barmaid at Marlin Moon just came over to our house here in OC and made wonderful Palm Beach Lemon Drops just like she makes at work. I had the proportions wrong in my previous message. It should be:

PALM BEACH LEMON DROP
Ingredients (makes 2):

3 oz Bacardi Limon (or Vodka Limon)
1.5 oz Triple Sec
5-6 oz Sour Mix
Fresh Lemon

Sugar
7-Up

Directions:

Chill martini glasses with ice water
Into a container, add 3 oz Bacardi Limon and 1.5 oz Triple Sec and 5-6 oz Sweet & Sour Mix

Squeeze ½ fresh lemon into container

Add a splash of 7-Up (or Sprite)
Empty ice water from glasses, then coat rim with sugar

Pour in contents from above

Shake vigorously and pour into martini glasses
Garnish rims of glasses with fresh lemon slice

Yummm,

M&D
